What could be worse when your child is suffering from a stomach bug! We just went through this recently in my home with both my daughter and son. I have some simple tricks that work for me.
The first thing I do when I notice they are throwing up is to go get my bottle of peppermint essential oil. I dilute a couple drops in a teaspoon of either coconut oil or jojoba oil. It can be quite strong on the skin if you don't dilute it in a carrier oil. Next I rub some directly on their belly, covering the entire abdomen. Then I take the rest and rub it on the bottom of each foot. Remember when they have a stomach flu, it is impossible to keep anything down which is why essential oils work great. My kids will report that within 10-20 minutes their stomach already hurts less. Rubbing essential oils on the bottom of the feet is supposed to work the same as taking it orally. I know it sounds so strange! Another oil I like to use whenever they are under the weather is Frankincense, since it stimulates the immune system to work better and is anti-inflammatory. It can be very hard to keep your child hydrated during a stomach virus, which is why I have them take tiny sips of coconut water to balance their electrolytes. It is like a natural form of Pediasure. You don't want them to get too dehydrated where they start throwing up bile.
Once my kids can start keeping liquid or food down then I give them elderberry and olive leaf extract to help them heal even quicker.
